Classic Teen Patti hand rankings

Classic order, strongest firstExampleMeaning
1 · Trail / TrioA♠ A♥ A♦Three cards of one rank.
2 · Pure sequence5♠ 6♠ 7♠Three consecutive ranks, all one suit.
3 · Sequence5♠ 6♥ 7♦Three consecutive ranks, mixed suits.
4 · Colour / Flush2♥ 7♥ J♥One suit, not a sequence.
5 · PairQ♠ Q♦ 4♥Two cards of one rank.
6 · High cardA♠ J♦ 8♥No higher category; compare ranks in order.

This is the common classic category order, not a promise that every variant uses it. Ace-low sequences, tie breaks and special-card rules vary. Ask whether A-2-3 ranks above or below A-K-Q before playing; do not assume a universal answer.

How a classic round works

  1. Players receive three cards from a standard deck. A table may require an opening contribution called the boot.
  2. Blind means playing without viewing your cards; seen means you have viewed them. The allowed contribution can differ.
  3. On your turn, use the table’s allowed actions. Pack/Fold leaves the current round; it is a normal choice.
  4. A show or side show compares hands under the table’s conditions. Eligibility and costs depend on the room rules.
  5. The strongest eligible hand wins when cards are compared; some rounds end when other players fold.

Two example comparisons

Example 1: Q♠ Q♥ Q♦ beats 5♠ 6♠ 7♠ in the classic category order, because a trail ranks above a pure sequence.

Example 2: 5♠ 6♥ 7♦ beats 2♥ 7♥ J♥ in the classic category order, because a sequence ranks above a colour. Do not import a five-card poker ranking.

Learn decisions without an income promise

A hand-ranking chart explains comparisons, not a guaranteed winning method. Hidden cards and other players’ actions create uncertainty. Use practice chips, set a time limit and avoid increasing play to recover a loss.

Common rule questions

Is A-2-3 always the highest sequence?

No universal ace-order rule applies to every table. Check how the chosen room compares A-2-3 with A-K-Q before playing.

Does the suit decide a tie?

Do not assume that suits have a fixed ranking. Check the table’s tie and show rules.

Do Joker, Muflis and AK47 use this chart unchanged?

No. Special cards or reversed ranking can change comparisons. Read the variation’s own rules before applying a classic chart.
